Wen LING

Prof. Wen LING, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, chair professor, chairman of Shandong Association for Science& Technology, member of the Executive Committee of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations, Chairman of the Engineering and Environment Committee, and director of the Management Consultation Committee of China Enterprise Confederation.
Prof. Ling has long been committed to the use of systems science theory to solve large-scale engineering management problems, and is one of the first generation of systems engineering doctors and postdoctoral fellows in China. He has put forward the idea of synergistic management of coal-based energy engineering, which is "three-dimensional coordination, two-wheel drive, synergistic optimisation". He has long been in charge of national key projects and research projects and has won many national major scientific and technological awards. He has presided over many national major projects in the field of hydrogen energy, and organised the implementation of many hydrogen energy projects which lead the industry development .
In addition, he has won more than 10 provincial, ministerial and industry-level awards, as well as more than 30 domestic and international patents. And he also published more than 30 papers in domestic and international journals, and 2 monographs.

Hongpu KANG

(Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Director of the National Key Laboratory for Intelligent Mining and Strata Control in Coal Mines, and Director of the Science and Technology Committee of China Coal Technology & Engineering Group.

Prof. Hongpu KANG, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, researcher, doctoral supervisor, mining engineering expert, director of the State Key Laboratory of Intelligent Coal Mining and Strata Control, and director of the Scientific and Technological Committee of China Coal Technology Engineering Group.

He has been engaged in research on rock mechanics and strata control theories and technologies in coal mines, specializing in roadway support. He has pioneered the theory of prestressed support theory for roadway surrounding rock and developed a comprehensive technical system for roadway surrounding rock control which integrates geological mechanical testing, bolt support, grouting modification, and pressure relief. These theories and techniques have been widely implemented in major coal mining areas of China, achieving significant economic and social benefits, and contributing outstandingly to advancing coal mine roadway surrounding rock control theories and technologies in China. He has been awarded 1 first prize and 3 second prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Award, and 1 second prize of National Technology Invention Award.

Dan ZHANG

(Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Chair Professor of Intelligent Robotics and Automation, and Director of Consortium for Intelligent Robotics Research at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University)

Prof. Dan ZHANG, Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE), Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC), Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and Fellow of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering (CSME), Chair Professor of Intelligent Robotics and Automation, and Director of Consortium for Intelligent Robotics Research at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
His influential scientific contributions have led to novel robotic system designs and development of new comprehensive models for better understanding of globe stiffness and robotic calibrations. His research applications have tackled some of the world's most challenging problems in high dynamic performance manufacturing robotic systems. His leadership has resulted in significant contributions to the areas of robotics, mechatronics, reconfigurable/sustainable manufacturing systems and MEMS devices.
His accomplishments have been recognized by many honors and awards including Canada Research Chair, Research Excellence Awards, Tier 1 York Research Chair, Lassonde Innovation Awards --- Established Researcher, Early Researcher Award by Ministry of Research and Innovation, and he is listed as the World’s Top Two Percent Researchers by Stanford’s Standardized Citation Indicators in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Noritatsu Tsubaki

(Member of the Japanese Academy of Engineering)

Prof. Noritatsu Tsubaki, Member of the Japanese Academy of Engineering, Chair Professor of Catalytic Energy Chemical Engineering,  Japan, and Director of the Center for Low-carbon Matter Transformation, University of Toyama, Japan. He was awarded the JSPS Prize in 2006, the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Energy Society of Japan in 2017, the Member of the Japanese Academic Conference in 2017, the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Catalyst Society of Japan in 2019, and the Academician of the Japanese Academy of Engineering in 2021. China national special expert (short-term first batch, Shanxi Coal Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences), Chinese Academy of Sciences overseas review experts. More than 120 invention patents were granted to Japan and other countries. Professor Tsubaki is particularly committed to the industrialization of scientific research results and has established six experimental factories.

Prof. Abdulmotaleb El Saddik, Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Fellow of IEEE, Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada, Distinguished University Professor and University research Chair in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Ottawa. He is an internationally recognized scholar who has made strong contributions to the knowledge and understanding of intelligent multimedia computing, communications and applications.  His research focus is on the establishment of digital twins to enhance the quality of life of citizens using AI, IoT, SN, AR/VR, haptics and 5G to allow people to interact in real-time with one another as well as with their smart digital representations in a secure manner.
He is the designated Editor-in-Chief (starting Feb. 2022) of the ACM Transactions on Multimedia Computing, Communications and Applications (ACM TOMM), Senior Associate Editor of IEEE Multimedia (IEEE MM), and Guest Editor for several Transactions and Journals. He has received research grants and contracts totaling more than $20M. He is the author of the book Haptics Technologies: Bringing Touch to Multimedia.
Prof. El Saddik is an ACM Distinguished Scientist and has received several awards, including the Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Award from the German Humboldt Foundation, the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society Technical Achievement Award. He also received IEEE Canada C.C. Gotlieb (Computer) Medal and A.G.L. McNaughton Gold Medal for important contributions to the field of computer engineering and science and the 2021 IEEE TCSC Achievement Award for Excellence in Scalable Computing.

Derek Elsworth

(Member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, Foreign academician of  the Chinese Academy of Engineering)

Prof. Derek Elsworth, Member of  the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, Foreign Academician of  the Chinese Academy of Engineering,  G. Albert Shoemaker Chair and Professor of Energy and Mineral Engineering and Geosciences at Penn State. He is co-founder of the Center for Geomechanics, Geofluids, and Geohazards. His interests are in the areas of computational mechanics, rock mechanics, and in the mechanical and transport characteristics of fractured rocks, with application to geothermal energy, the deep geological sequestration of radioactive wastes and of CO2, unconventional hydrocarbons including coal-gas, tight-gas-shales and hydrates, and instability and eruption dynamics of volcanoes.

Dushan Boroyevich

Prof. Dushan Boroyevich, Member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, President Emeritus of IEEE PELS, IEEE Life Fellow.  His research interests include electronic power distribution systems, multi-phase power conversion, power electronics systems modeling and control, and integrated design of power converters. Prof.  Boroyevich received his Dipl. Ing. degree from the University of Belgrade in 1976 and his M.S. degree from the University of Novi Sad in 1982, in what then used to be Yugoslavia.  He received his Ph.D. degree in 1986 from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, USA. From 1986 to 1990, he was an assistant professor and director of the Power and Industrial Electronics Research Program at the University of Novi Sad. He then joined the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech as associate professor. He is now University Distinguished Professor and Associate Vice President for Research and Innovation in Energy Systems at Virginia Tech.
Prof. Boroyevich is a recipient of 4 honorary professorships in China, as well as numerous other awards, including the IEEE William E. Newell Power Electronics Technical Field Award and the European Power Electronics Association Outstanding Achievement Award.

Bernhard Müller

(Member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech)

Prof. Bernhard Müller, Academician of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech), Member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Leipzig (SAW), the Academy for Spatial Development in the Leibniz Association (ARL) and the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Serbia.

Prof. Müller is an urban and regional planner. He received his doctoral degree from the University of Mainz and completed his habilitation in Spatial Planning and Development at the Hannover University, Germany. He received an honorary doctoral degree from the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava.

From 1997 until June 2019, he was the director of the Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development (IOER). Between 1993 and 2019, he was the Chair of Spatial Development at Technische Universität Dresden (TU Dresden). Since July 2019, he is a senior professor at TU Dresden, Faculty of Environmental Sciences. Since September 2023, he is a distinguished professor at the China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT), Xuzhou, China.

As a member of the Policy Unit on ‘Urban Spatial Strategies: Land Market and Segregation’, he was involved in the elaboration of the New Urban Agenda of the United Nations.

Min Yang

(Professor of  Reserch Center for Eco-environmental Science, Chinese Academy Sciences)

Prof.Yang Min, professor of the Research Center of Ecological and Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, doctoral supervisor, winner of the National Science Fund for Outstanding Young People, the director of the National Engineering Research Center for Harmless and Resource-based Industrial Wastewater, and deputy editor of ES&T Water. He is mainly engaged in the identification, biological process and control technology research and application of characteristic pollutants in water, and has made some important breakthroughs in the identification and control technology of drinking water odor and the recycling and harmless treatment of wastewater in oil fields, antibiotics and other industries. He has published three monographs and more than 400 papers, being listed in Elsevier China highly cited scholars for 9 consecutive years.In addition, Prof.Yang has authorized more than 40 invention patents and his achievements have been applied to the construction and operation of thirty seven projects.He has presided over or participated in the preparation of six national and industry standards and guidelines, which has played an important scientific and technological supporting role in major incidents such as nitrobenzene pollution in Songhua River, cyanobacteria bloom in Taihu Lake, Wenchuan earthquake, and COVID-19 epidemic. It provided support for not only the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in solving drinking water safety problems of Chinese embassies and consulates in difficult areas, but also the Ministry of Commerce in building a "China-Sri Lanka Water Center" and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment in preparing a "China-Cambodia Environmental Cooperation Center". He won the National Natural Science Award in 2007 and 2017, and the Outstanding Scientific and Technological Achievement Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2021.

Rui XIAO

(Dean of Energy and Environment School of Southeast University, Professor

Prof. Xiao Rui, chair professor of Southeast University, dean of Energy and Environment School of Southeast University, director of Key Laboratory of Energy Thermal Conversion and Process Measurement and Control, Ministry of Education, winner of the National Outstanding Youth Fund,  chairman of the Jiangsu Energy Research Association, co-chairman of the Jiangsu Environmental Science Society, director of the China Renewable Energy Society, associate editor of Fuel Processing Technology, editorial board of International Journal of Greenhouse Gas Control, Acta Energiae Solaris Sinica, etc.

He has been engaged in the solid fuel pyrolysis and gasification, and high-value utilization of products. He has successively won one second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, three first prizes of the Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress Award, one China Patent Award of Excellence and China Youth Science and Technology Award as the first prize winner, and four awards of Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress as the main accomplisher. He has published more than 500 papers in core journals, such as Science, at home and abroad, including more than 400 SCI-indexed papers. His papers have been cited more than 13,000 times by SCI, and he has been authorized over 90 invention patents.

Axel Preusse

(Full Professor  of the Faculty for Georesources and Materials Engineering of RWTH Aachen University, Germany)

Prof. Axel Preusse, vice dean and full professor of the Faculty for Georesources and Materials Engineering of RWTH Aachen University, Germany.

Throughout his academic career, Professor Preusse has held honorary functions associated with various academic organizations worldwide. Between 2010 and 2013, he served as the President of the International Society for Mine Surveying (ISM), and since 2017, he has held the post as the Vice- President of this organization. He was also the Chairman of the German Society of Mine Surveying (DMV) from 2021 to 2023. In 2023, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award of the International Society for Mine Surveying (ISM).

Professor Preusse’s teaching and research is in the fields of 1)Mine surveying methods and mineral resources management ; 2)Prediction of ground subsidence; ground control, mining subsidence engineering; 3)Survey, prediction and regulatory procedures in mining and post-mining; 4) Coal Mine Methane (CMM) in active or abandoned mines, Coal-bed methane (CBM) and deep geothermal energy projects.

He has more than 250 publications, invited papers and textbooks.

Zhenqi HU

Changjiang Distinguished Professor and Dean of Institute of energy and Resource Strategy Develpoment, China University of Mining and Technonlgy

Prof. Zhenqi HU, China University of Mining and Technonlgy. He also served as a member of the Coordination Committee of the International Affiliation of Land Reclamationists, the managing Editor of the International Journal of Mining, Reclamation and Environment, the Chairman of the Land Reclamation and Ecological Restoration Professional Committee of the China Coal Society.

Prof. Hu has contributed to mine land reclamation in China for 35 years. He has authored more than 175 papers and 9 academic books, holds 50 invention patents. Prof. Hu has received numerous accolades including 3 national second-class prizes for technological progress, and 9 first-class prizes at the provincial and ministerial level and in industry associations. Moreover, He was awarded the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Award for Scientific and Technological Advancement, the National Innovation Award, the Chinese Youth Science and Technology Award, and the 2024 William T. Plass Award of the American Society of Reclamation Science.
