            Abstract
The metro has become an important way to relieve the pressure of urban surface traffic, while the safety of metro operation has also aroused widespread public concern. This paper takes the Nanjing metro as an example and evaluates its operational safety by establishing a metro operational safety evaluation index system, applying the analytic hierarchy process to determine the index weights, and then combining it with the semi-quantitative safety evaluation table method to evaluate its operational safety. The results show that the most important factors affecting the safety of metro operations are human factors and management factors; 90.22% of the evaluation indicators of Nanjing metro operations have a safety evaluation score of A≥85, reaching the extraordinarily safe level; however, the safety evaluation score of some evaluation indicators such as safety publicity is A≤75, which is at the critical safety level, and measures need to be taken to improve the safety management of this part. Through the metro operation safety evaluation, we can understand its operation safety status in real time, and take early warning and rapid measures to prevent operation accidents, which is very important to support and guarantee the safe operation of the metro.
