Abstract
Chemical looping combustion (CLC) is considered to be one of the most promising CO2 capture technologies, and oxygen carrier is the key to CLC. However, the cleavage plane of a single oxygen carrier is not conducive to the dissipation of impact energy, which makes the oxygen carrier face the problem of attrition. In this study, the iron ore was used as the carrier, and the potassium feldspar with ductile creep characteristics was used as the toughness-enhanceing material. The effects of the loading methods and loading amount of potassium feldspar on the attrition resistance and activity were studied. The results show that solid-solid co-fluidization (SF) is superior to premixed calcination (PC). When the mass fraction of potassium feldspar is controlled at about 0.5%, the best toughening effect can be achieved on oxygen carriers. And the reactivity of 0.5% can be increased by 41.39% compared with OC. The characterization results show that the fiber structure exists in the sample with a mass fraction of 0.5%, the fiber structure was interspersed in the skeleton defect to form a skeleton bridge. The end effect was used to disperse the consumption of fracture energy, which induces crack deflection and closure.
