摘要
Emergency management is an emerging interdisciplinary field involving national security, social stability, technological innovation, and international cooperation. Research engagement, as the primary form of learning involvement for doctoral students, holds significant importance in enhancing their competitive edge. Academic passion is a critical factor influencing doctoral students' enthusiasm for research and plays a crucial role in shaping their research engagement. This study, rooted in self-determination theory, elucidates the unique pathway through which academic passion impacts doctoral students' involvement in scientific research. Between December 2022 and February 2023, we collected responses from 522 emergency management doctoral students at 25 Chinese universities through a questionnaire survey. Utilizing SEM and SPSS 26.0 and Mplus 8.3 software, our analysis revealed that academic passion significantly positively influences research engagement among emergency management doctoral students. Furthermore, ambidextrous learning (comprising exploratory and exploitative learning) moderates the effect of academic passion on research involvement, while the academic atmosphere effectively fosters the conversion of academic passion into agile learning. The conclusions drawn from this study contribute to enhancing the research enthusiasm of emergency management doctoral students, improving learning efficacy and innovative vigor, and offering a theoretical framework for the reform of doctoral education in emergency management.
